Below, the grille opens into a performance-implying maw that\u2019s showcased on the new N Line trim, which is essentially a styling package. The Ioniq 6 N (no Line) cranks up the visual aggression further\u2014but more than just looking fast, it\u2019s been modified extensively to go fast, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Much of the 6 N\u2019s high-performance engineering is cribbed from the already stupendous Ioniq 5 N SUV, which arrived for the 2025 model year and quickly started <u class=\"underline\">breaking performance records<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u>, <u class=\"underline\">winning comparison tests<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u>, <u class=\"underline\">earning tech accolades<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u>, and generally providing <u class=\"underline\">nothing less than glee<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u> to everyone at <em class=\"italic\">MotorTrend <\/em>lucky enough to drive it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Primary among those mechanicals is the dual-motor powertrain, which delivers 641 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque in short bursts (it\u2019s rated at 601 hp and 545 lb-ft most of the time). But don&#8217;t think for even as long as it takes to sprint to 60 mph\u2014likely less than 3.0 seconds\u2014that the Ioniq 6 N is just an <u class=\"underline\">electric muscle car<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u>. Its chassis has been thoroughly revised with adaptive suspension dampers, hydraulic bushings, and additional structural adhesive to increase feel and precision. Although ground clearance is identical between the two, the 6 N\u2019s shorter height contributes to a roll center some 4 inches below that of the 5 N. There\u2019s also the swan-neck rear wing, which the 5 N lacks; it can push more than 200 pounds of downforce at a top speed of about 160 mph.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Hyundai says it attempted to give the 6 N a different character than the 5 N: less wild and playful, more grip-oriented for added control and precision on track and off. A configurable <u class=\"underline\">drift mode<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u> in the 6 N ensures things will never be too stoic if you so desire\u2014as if that could possibly be a concern for a vehicle so inherently spirited as this.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-h5 md:typography-h4 md:text-neutral-1 dark:md:text-neutral-8 text-neutral-1 dark:text-neutral-8 -mb-4 md:-mb-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"HeaderElement\"><strong class=\"font-bold\">N-dless Choices<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Sports cars were once simple machines, their dynamic breadth defined by hardware. No more. There are so many settings: multiple levels for motor response, steering weight, suspension firmness, differential behavior, and stability control leniency. Each can be tuned independently. That\u2019s even before you get to N Torque Distribution or N Pedal, which lets you adjust torque balance and regenerative braking strength.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">While there\u2019s theoretically a finite number of configuration possibilities, it\u2019d take a lot more time than we had to find the perfect one. That\u2019s of little concern, though, since the Ioniq 6 N is so fun regardless of how it\u2019s set up (OK, maybe not Eco mode).<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Running as the EV it is, torque arrives instantly and power sustains up to high speeds; the straight between Turns 3 and 4 of the Korea International Circuit we had the pleasure of attacking in the 6 N wasn\u2019t long enough to exhaust it. A tachometer appears, and the steering wheel&#8217;s paddle shifters now change virtual gears that dictate how acceleration is delivered. Don\u2019t upshift, and it\u2019ll bounce off a synthetic rev limiter; don\u2019t downshift, and it\u2019ll lug. It\u2019ll even deny downshifts at high rpm, lest you over-rev the engine it doesn\u2019t have.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Hyundai programmed the 6 N\u2019s \u201ctransmission\u201d to have tighter gear spacing than the 5 N. The effect is of a close-ratio eight-speed box that encourages constant paddle slapping. Other electric sport sedans <u class=\"underline\">achieve greatness<\/u><u class=\"underline\"><\/u> without such tricks. That said, if you want, you can turn it all off and still have a heck of a time. Focusing on the 6 N experience itself, perhaps the only thing missing is enginelike vibration to accompany the sound and feel, which would make it all even more convincing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Another dynamic blemish is the brake pedal. It provides strong and progressive stopping power but not a ton of feel; a sensation of pads biting into rotors isn\u2019t really there. In addition, the vehicle-specific Pirelli P Zero Elect tires are up to the task on the road but went somewhat greasy on us after a few hot laps on track. The car hides it well, changing direction eagerly as its adaptive suspension dampers do an excellent job of eliminating the more pronounced body motions that can affect the standard Ioniq 6. Expect better than the 224 miles we recorded in the Ioniq 5 N, perhaps coming closer to Hyundai\u2019s claimed 240-mile estimate but still short of ideal for long-distance trips. Driving flat out at the Korea International Circuit, we watched the 84.0-kWh battery\u2019s state of charge plummet lap by lap, accompanied by a drop in power as the laps piled up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Recharging performance is less of a concern.
