Our track tested number of 3.3 seconds to 60 mph is dead on what Cadillac estimated for its V-ified version of the Lyriq.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div readability=\"191.18401186304\">\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">It\u2019s important to note, however, that beyond all the chassis stiffening and adaptive damping and the Velocity Max and Competition modes, this is still an SUV that could star in a reality show called <em class=\"italic\">My 6,059-Pound Life<\/em>. That\u2019s not to say we aren\u2019t duly impressed with what Cadillac has accomplished here; far from it. First, press down hard on the brake and accelerator. It will prompt you to \u201cFLOOR IT\u201d until you get the setup right, then lift off the brake and proceed with a record-breaking launch. Before all that, we engaged Velocity Max via the steering wheel button to unlock its full 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, and Competitive mode, which, among other neat tricks, loosens the stability control system and shoves more torque delivery to the rear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">The results were impressive, although we were looking for a little more drama, more violence. But at least we barreled down the dragstrip in style. Did we mention it\u2019s the quickest Cadillac ever to 60 mph? Things got heated. After one 100\u20130-mph braking run and four 60\u20130 stops, the Lyriq V\u2019s brakes said <em class=\"italic\">no mas,<\/em> and it limited itself to 71 mph to help cool them down. It employs six-piston Brembo calipers that bite into 15.4-inch discs at the front, and a single-piston caliper and 13.6-inch disc at each rear wheel. The good news is our best stop came in at a more than solid 111 feet, splitting the difference between the EQE AMG (109 feet) and the Blazer SS (114 feet), both of which weighed in less than the Lyriq V.<\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">Through the handling crucible that is our figure-eight test and out on the skidpad, the Lyriq V wasn\u2019t setting any records, and the brakes didn\u2019t do it any favors here, either, as they overheated again during the tail end of our hot laps. We were able to record some acceptable numbers (25.2 seconds at 0.79 g through the figure eight and 0.87 g around the skidpad), with it edging the Blazer SS on the skidpad and the Chevy returning the favor in the figure eight. The Benz, however, handily outpaced both of the General Motors EVs. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-h5 md:typography-h4 md:text-neutral-1 dark:md:text-neutral-8 text-neutral-1 dark:text-neutral-8 -mb-4 md:-mb-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"HeaderElement\"><strong class=\"font-bold\">V EV Doing EV Things<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">All in all, for a hefty all-electric EV like this version of the Lyriq, it largely delivers the amount of power and performance you\u2019d expect from a Cadillac with V badges subtly applied in several spots inside and out. Does that mean it also excels at doing EV things like charging quickly and pushing the range limits? One thing to keep in mind, if you\u2019re Velocity Max\u2013ing all over the place, expect your range to go way down. <\/p>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">When it comes to its fast-charging capabilities, that\u2019s where the Lyriq V (and the rest of the present General Motors lineup of EVs for that matter) isn\u2019t exactly as quick as its 0\u201360 time. It can accept 81 miles\u2019 worth of electrons into its 102-kWh battery pack in 15 minutes, which is fine if you need to just add some range and go. But if you\u2019re charging from say, 5 to 80 percent like we did, it can take upwards of an hour. Not fast. On the plus side, its standard 19.2-kilowatt charging module could make things quicker for folks using Level 2 home-style charging. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-h5 md:typography-h4 md:text-neutral-1 dark:md:text-neutral-8 text-neutral-1 dark:text-neutral-8 -mb-4 md:-mb-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"HeaderElement\"><strong class=\"font-bold\">Doing Things in the Day to Day<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"transition-colors motion-reduce:transition-none typography-body2 md:typography-body1 md:text-neutral-2 dark:md:text-neutral-6 text-neutral-2 dark:text-neutral-6\" data-ids=\"Typography\" data-component=\"TextElement\" data-nitrous-content-readable-section=\"true\">When you have the Lyriq V all charged up and ready to go and you hop in, you\u2019ll find a cabin trimmed with a mix of Cadillac\u2019s modern luxury aesthetic and V-inspired sport touches. Highlights include a 33-inch wraparound digital screen and just enough carbon, leather, wood, and other accents to lend a sense of occasion without feeling too garish.
