The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid<\/u> is a brand-new addition to the Korean automaker\u2019s growing Palisade lineup. From the outside, Hyundai\u2019s recently updated 3-row SUV<\/u> flagship offers an elegant blend of traditional cues, midcentury modern minimalism, and subtle, EV-evoking futurism. (EVoking? Did we just coin that?) But let\u2019s be honest: As stylish as a vehicle might look on the outside, it’s how it works on the inside that really counts in everyday use. Here’s a look at how well the Palisade performs where it matters most.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Up Front <\/h2>\n

Our test subject was the top-of-the-line 2026 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy, and calligraphy\u2014that is, both the art of elegant lettering and the art of rendering it\u2014might be the perfect way to conceptualize what\u2019s going on here. You open the door of the Palisade and immediately notice how inviting and upscale it looks inside, with graceful curving lines and subtly contrasting textures throughout. This is not the Hyundai of old; the influence of luxury relative Genesis (as well as, perhaps, the upward pressure being exerted by rival relative Kia) is plainly evident in the design, materials, fit and finish, and overall cohesiveness of the Palisade\u2019s cockpit.<\/p>\n

Our Palisade was trimmed in a two-tone gray\/navy, one of three available color schemes. Gray in this case is almost white, which gives the cabin a sense of tidiness, space and, yes, genuine luxury. It’s set off nicely with dark blue accents on the dash, wheel, and doors. We couldn\u2019t help but wonder how well all these light-colored materials will hold up under common SUV stressors like kids and dogs, but they definitely make an impression on your visual senses.<\/p>\n

Situate yourself in the driver\u2019s seat, and you\u2019re faced with an attractive steering wheel wrapped in the same two-tone material as the dash. About that dash: Hyundai\u2019s dual 12.3-inch display setup, oriented horizontally with a slight curve toward the driver, is one of the most well-executed on the market. Infotainment functions are neatly arranged and clearly displayed, and the driver\u2019s view out of the windshield isn\u2019t obstructed, which isn’t the case with some other three-rows we could mention.<\/p>\n

Climate controls get their own dedicated central spot below the digital display. While they\u2019re simulated buttons, we consider them a welcome indication of the trend back to hard controls, nonetheless. Of course, if poking things with your finger feels too old-school for you, there\u2019s also the Palisade\u2019s Amazon Alexa-enabled voice command feature. It can be used to adjust HVAC settings, operate the windows, control entertainment and navigation\u2014even operate your smart home devices if you\u2019re into that sort of thing.<\/p>\n

Interior Innovations <\/h2>\n

Between the heated and cooled, Nappa leather-trimmed front seats sits Hyundai\u2019s unique sliding center console, which features a cool, dual-function armrest that opens to reveal interior storage with a UV-C sterilization capability (!), as well as the customary twin cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and dual USB-C ports up top. Those USB-C ports are conveniently placed front and center on top of the console, but we do wonder whether they\u2019d be better off inside it, protected from the elements\u2014cracker crumbs, spilled coffee, dust, and so on.<\/p>\n

The wireless charging pad is perfectly placed, however, falling readily to hand and putting your device back far enough to be out of your line of sight, but not so far back that it disappears\u2014great for when your front passenger\u2019s phone needs some juice but they\u2019d still like to monitor it as it charges, for instance. Speaking of which, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as well as Hyundai\u2019s Bluelink+ service, which provides niceties including remote starting and lock\/unlock, vehicle location, and climate preconditioning\u2014all from your smartphone.<\/p>\n

This particular Palisade\u2019s heated second-row captain\u2019s chairs also proved plenty comfortable, though here again we couldn\u2019t help envisioning the cleanup involved with all that perforated material after the first juice box is spilled. Second-row seats can be adjusted from the front via the touchscreen, and one USB-C port per seat and roof-mounted climate controls round out the amenities.<\/p>\n

Being a Calligraphy, our test vehicle was set up to seat seven, though lower trims can accommodate up to eight. Even the third row, normally a penalty box for full-size people, is comfortable. An adult\u2019s knees sit slightly too high for long-distance comfort, perhaps, but the legroom, glass, and adjustable seating make it a perfectly pleasant place to ride. Access is remarkably easy, too, with Hyundai\u2019s power tilting feature that can move the second-row seats well out of the way.<\/p>\n

When you need to pump up the (cargo) volume, that third row can be folded flat with buttons in the cargo area, a wonderfully useful feature that should be adopted as industry standard. With the third row down, 19.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity becomes 46.3. With both rows fully flat, cargo room swells to a loveseat-swallowing maximum of 86.7 cubes.<\/p>\n

Worth the Money? <\/h2>\n

Bottom line? This is a world-beating interior with an almost dizzying array of amenities and features that wouldn\u2019t seem out of place in an SUV that\u2019s tens of thousands more than Hyundai\u2019s asking. So, exactly how much is Hyundai asking? The 2026 Palisade Hybrid starts at just over $44,000, and for a top-dog Calligraphy like the one we drove, you\u2019re looking at an MSRP of less than $60,000. That\u2019s a flat-out bargain. If you\u2019re shopping for three-row SUVs, this one should definitely be on your list.<\/p>\n
