The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is a brand-new addition to the Korean automaker’s growing Palisade lineup. From the outside, Hyundai’s recently updated 3-row SUV flagship offers an elegant blend of traditional cues, midcentury modern minimalism, and subtle, EV-evoking futurism. (EVoking? Did we just coin that?) But let’s be honest: As stylish as a vehicle might look on the outside, it’s how it works on the inside that really counts in everyday use. Here’s a look at how well the Palisade performs where it matters most.
Up Front
Our test subject was the top-of-the-line 2026 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy, and calligraphy—that is, both the art of elegant lettering and the art of rendering it—might be the perfect way to conceptualize what’s going on here. You open the door of the Palisade and immediately notice how inviting and upscale it looks inside, with graceful curving lines and subtly contrasting textures throughout. This is not the Hyundai of old; the influence of luxury relative Genesis (as well as, perhaps, the upward pressure being exerted by rival relative Kia) is plainly evident in the design, materials, fit and finish, and overall cohesiveness of the Palisade’s cockpit.
Our Palisade was trimmed in a two-tone gray/navy, one of three available color schemes. Gray in this case is almost white, which gives the cabin a sense of tidiness, space and, yes, genuine luxury. It’s set off nicely with dark blue accents on the dash, wheel, and doors. We couldn’t help but wonder how well all these light-colored materials will hold up under common SUV stressors like kids and dogs, but they definitely make an impression on your visual senses.
Situate yourself in the driver’s seat, and you’re faced with an attractive steering wheel wrapped in the same two-tone material as the dash. About that dash: Hyundai’s dual 12.3-inch display setup, oriented horizontally with a slight curve toward the driver, is one of the most well-executed on the market. Infotainment functions are neatly arranged and clearly displayed, and the driver’s view out of the windshield isn’t obstructed, which isn’t the case with some other three-rows we could mention.
Climate controls get their own dedicated central spot below the digital display. While they’re simulated buttons, we consider them a welcome indication of the trend back to hard controls, nonetheless. Of course, if poking things with your finger feels too old-school for you, there’s also the Palisade’s Amazon Alexa-enabled voice command feature. It can be used to adjust HVAC settings, operate the windows, control entertainment and navigation—even operate your smart home devices if you’re into that sort of thing.
Interior Innovations
Between the heated and cooled, Nappa leather-trimmed front seats sits Hyundai’s unique sliding center console, which features a cool, dual-function armrest that opens to reveal interior storage with a UV-C sterilization capability (!), as well as the customary twin cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and dual USB-C ports up top. Those USB-C ports are conveniently placed front and center on top of the console, but we do wonder whether they’d be better off inside it, protected from the elements—cracker crumbs, spilled coffee, dust, and so on.
The wireless charging pad is perfectly placed, however, falling readily to hand and putting your device back far enough to be out of your line of sight, but not so far back that it disappears—great for when your front passenger’s phone needs some juice but they’d still like to monitor it as it charges, for instance. Speaking of which, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as well as Hyundai’s Bluelink+ service, which provides niceties including remote starting and lock/unlock, vehicle location, and climate preconditioning—all from your smartphone.
This particular Palisade’s heated second-row captain’s chairs also proved plenty comfortable, though here again we couldn’t help envisioning the cleanup involved with all that perforated material after the first juice box is spilled. Second-row seats can be adjusted from the front via the touchscreen, and one USB-C port per seat and roof-mounted climate controls round out the amenities.
Being a Calligraphy, our test vehicle was set up to seat seven, though lower trims can accommodate up to eight. Even the third row, normally a penalty box for full-size people, is comfortable. An adult’s knees sit slightly too high for long-distance comfort, perhaps, but the legroom, glass, and adjustable seating make it a perfectly pleasant place to ride. Access is remarkably easy, too, with Hyundai’s power tilting feature that can move the second-row seats well out of the way.
